Engineering Development Directorate
The Engineering Development Directorate, or DE, embodies more than 30
years of experience in advanced engineering and applied research and development
with ground and flight systems. This experience has been focused on the
planning, development, and application of advanced technologies at Kennedy
Space Center, resulting in a knowledge base and design expertise that is
unique and critical to maintaining the efficiency, effectiveness, and safety
for the KSC launch and landing mission. The DE team is a launch enabling
force that:
- Provides non-routine engineering, scientific, analytical, and support
functions
- Stands ready to quickly respond to operational needs that impede the
processing flow
- Improves the efficiency and effectiveness of launch processes and operations
through applied research, design, development, and test activities
- Plans, manages, and integrates facilities and equipment to improve
quality and safety in payload and launch processes.
